Spring is Springing

It's finally arrived! Spring is here! These are the orchards at work, of which I made a colourful photo monatge.

Mel is unimpressed.

Ready to Go

We are going away for a month to the UK, so it seemed like a good excuse to have some friends round to say farewell for a while and to tidy up the cupboards...

I was not so sure the next day that this had been such a good idea, but a refreshing beetroot and other cleansing goo helped a little. Okay, so the juice was good, but I think this may be a slightly over-the-top claim.

As if it knows we are leaving it, the garden is bashfully hinting at future glory. We will have people staying here, so at least someone will get to enjoy it while we are gone.

Spring is Coming

Another month, another book pile - this is what is keeping me warm at night.

The graffiti is still eye-catching on my walks around the urban hubs.

Morning sorties to the local cafe are rewarded with servings of fruit and French toast (or 'eggy bread' as we used to call it, with a distinct lack of sophistication).

A friend had a cocktail evening to celebrate her house-warming. She has decorated the place beautifully, kicking off a new chapter in her life and it was fun to enjoy that with her.

Meanwhile, our garden is celebrating the more clement weather with a flourish.

In the Midst of Death; There is Life

I've been doing a sort of beer and book matching thing of late. This is Galaxy Juicy by 3 Ravens paired with The Sun King by Nancy Mitford: fruity, juicy, and obscure with a dash of the tropical and and hint of bitterness.  It works.

Now I have begun at a new place of work, I need to find eating establishments nearby. This one seemed to feature the green.

We are also meant to take a photo to put with our office details so that when staff members receive an internal email, they can check what the sender looks like and hopefully recognise them in future. I'm not particularly good at this selfie malarkey and equally unsure as to whether I would even want anyone to recognise me from this photo.

On one lunchtime walk, I took myself to Woden Cemetery, which is near my place of work. A very good friend died a few years ago; had he lived it would have been his 48th birthday. I like the peace of the graveyard and the blossom indicating new life and fresh hope.

37: Blossom

It's springtime in Central, and that means blossom on the fruit trees, particularly in Alexandra where they hold a blossom festival. All these bashful trees are blushing for the cameras.
